    Once upon a time, in the winter of 2011 at the University of Chicago, two college students with backgrounds in computer science and economics started UChicago Hookups. Originally intended as a joke to disprove the notion that UChicago is "where fun comes to die", UChicago Hookups soon became a household name on campus and caught the attention of local and national media. This was followed by an attempt at expansion to other schools, which included a rebrand to eduHookups. Unfortunately, this attempt was short-lived due to various reasons, including a number of technical issues. eduHookups shut down in May 2011, after which the site assets and domain name were sold.
